Ford F-250 Super Duty AC and Heater Controls

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a diesel pickup truck that was first introduced to the market in 1999, and after four generations, is still being produced. As a four-door truck with plenty of space for passengers, there is a need for a heating and cooling unit that can quickly change the temperature of the F-250’s cab. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) model is great for this vehicle, but as the pickup ages, the A/C and heater controls on the vehicle may need to be replaced to keep the cab at the temperature that you like.

What are the temperature control features on a F-250?

The OEM temperature control unit in this truck is designed to give you a lot of options to keep you comfortable as you drive. This vehicle uses a three-knob design that allows you to control how hot or cold the air is that comes through the vents as well as the fan speed. The knob has four different fan speeds that you can choose from. There is also an A/C button that you can press that makes the air a little cooler than it would be with just the fans.

The third knob allows you to chose which vents the air is being released from. In total, there are five options that you can choose from that either use the footwell vent, the face vent, the demister vent, which is more commonly known as the defroster, or a combination of the three vents. On the Super Duty, there is also an option to recycle the air that is already in the cab of the truck instead of bringing in fresh air from the vents.

Does the entire unit need replacing if the knob breaks?

If one of the knobs on the Ford F-250 Super Duty A/C and heater control unit is not functioning as it should, you can simply replace the knob by removing the unit from the dash and popping the knob out. If you have an OEM temperature control unit, it may be beneficial to simply purchase an entirely new aftermarket heating and cooling unit that will update the interior of your Super Duty as well. Some options that are compatible with the Ford F-250 Super Duty have push buttons instead of knobs that give the dash of your pickup a sleek look.

Are there temperature controls in the back of the F-250?

If you look on the back side of the center console in your truck, you will see that there are two vents that can be moved to adjust the air affecting the second row of seats in the Ford F-250 Super Duty. There is a knob between the vents that allows the passengers in the back to turn the fan up or down as well. The actual temperature will need to be controlled from the front of the truck unless you have an aftermarket heating and cooling control unit with those features.
