Motorcycle Brake Calipers and Parts for Suzuki GS750

Your Suzuki motorcycle gives far more than exceptional ride. If the calipers on your bike break down or wear out, you need to repair this equipment quickly. Fortunately Suzuki calipers, pads, and other pieces can be easily repaired and replaced.

How do Suzuki GS750 calipers work?

GS750 motorcycle calipers clamp down on the rotors of your bike, slowing or stopping it. Each wheel should have two calipers, one on each side. Your bike has two on the front and two on the back, four in all. Each caliper consists of several essential components. Here are the four main pieces to look for:

  • Brake Pads: This central piece contacts the rotor, creating friction in order to slow or stop the wheel. Due to the high friction involved, you must periodically replace pads when they get worn down. The speed at which pads wear out will depend on several factors, including the amount of braking you do and the amount of debris kicked up into the caliper.
  • Pistons: This metal cross-piece pushes the pads to make contact with the rotors. If brake pads wear down past a certain point, pistons can be damaged or can be difficult to push back into place. For this reason, GS750 piston tools let you push pistons back into place as needed to remove or repair calipers.
  • Seals: Calipers attach to the fork of your Suzuki GS750 with seals that help filter out dust and other debris. These seals will wear away over time, and you can replace them separately from the GS750 caliper.
  • Caliper: The main body of each caliper looks like a metal half circle that rests over part of the wheel. This metal part is all one piece, so if the caliper itself is damaged, you need to replace the whole thing. However, you can replace each of the four calipers separately as needed.
How can you find replacements for your Suzuki?

Because this part connects the body of the bike to the wheels, the caliper itself has to match your bike. However, commonly replaceable parts, such as pads, have standard sizes across different models and builds:

  • Model, year, and location: If you need to replace the calipers, you will want to note the model year of your Suzuki bike. This part can vary by model year. You will also want to note front or rear wheel and if this is the right or left caliper.
  • Parts: For replacement caliper parts, you can choose between individual parts or kits designed to repair a caliper. In general, these kits give you all the parts you need to service parts that often wear out, such as pads and seals.
  • Colors: As a highly visible part of your Suzuki, you may have painted calipers. If so, they were probably painted aftermarket, because calipers do not come painted. You can paint replacement pieces to match or leave them as is for a new look.
