Catalytic Converters for Isuzu Trooper
Developed to meet Californias air quality standards, catalytic converters remove pollutants from your cars exhaust. Contemporary converters use a three-way catalyst to reduce carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and other pollutants. Without this part, you cant pass an emissions test.
What materials are your Troopers converter made from?They are made of metals, insulators, and other materials. These include:
- Base Metals: For base metal converters, ceramic oxides of metals are used as catalysts. Common base metals include nickel, chromium, and copper.
- Platinum: Platinum group metals are very expensive. Extremely small quantities are used on ceramic catalyst supports, where theyre reduced to salts.

- Oxygen sensors: Your vehicles oxygen sensors help measure the level of pollutants in your cars exhaust.
- Fuel injection system: This system controls the mixture of fuel, and hence the composition of the exhaust emitted by your system.
- Microprocessors: These feed information from the oxygen sensor back to the fuel injection system, and then the fuel injection system adjusts.
In order to do its job properly, the catalytic converter needs significant surface area. Most have a honeycomb shape. Pushing the exhaust through a dense honeycomb structure means it is all “scrubbed” clean.
