Injetores de Combustível para Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette Fuel Injectors

The Chevrolet Corvette has gone through seven generations since being introduced by General Motors in 1953. Known as a muscle car, the Corvette relies on a powerful engine well supported by its fuel injection system. With a wide selection of Chevrolet Corvette fuel injectors, you can find what you need to keep your Corvette at top performance.

How does a fuel injector work?

Air and fuel must be mixed together in the correct ratio for efficient combustion to occur inside the cylinders of the engine. In your Corvette, a fuel pump pressurizes fuel from the tank and pushes it through a fuel filter, an accumulator, and a distributor to the injectors. The fuel pressure sprays the fuel as droplets through the injector nozzles into the engine intake manifold where it is mixed with air admitted into the manifold by the throttle body valve. This air-fuel mixture is compressed by the piston stroke and ignition occurs when the spark plug fires. The explosive force of this constant cycling is what powers the engine.

What is the difference between fuel injection and carburetors?

Early Corvettes used a carburetor in which fuel is drawn into the air by a partial vacuum created by airflow. With the injectors in later Corvettes, fuel is pushed into the intake manifold or directly into the cylinder. While both achieve the same result of air-fuel mixing, injectors are more precise in mixing at the proper ratio.

How does an electronic fuel injection or EFI work?

EFI systems are controlled by a computer. The vehicle engine control computer will receive inputs from sensors in the air-fuel systems. These sensors detect air temperature, oxygen level, and throttle body position. This data is used by the computer in addition to driver pedal input to calculate the precise amount of fuel to mix to achieve the necessary engine response. The computer opens the solenoid-operated valve in each injection unit to spray for a calculated amount of time and then close. This happens in milliseconds to keep up with the combustion cycle.

What are the signs of a bad fuel injector?

Faulty injection systems in your Corvette can result from dirt, leaking, or burning out of valve solenoids. A faulty injector may cause problems with the car ignition, including rough idling, misfires, surging, and bucking while driving, poor performance, and low mileage. If you are experiencing any of these problems you may need to replace your fuel injectors.
