Intel Computador Core 2 Duo Placa-Mãe e CPU Combinadas

Equip Your Computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo Motherboard and CPU

Whether you want to have a computer at home so that you can finish work projects, complete homework assignments, or browse the internet and watch streaming video, you need one that has a quality motherboard and central processing unit (CPU). There are many CPUs made by Intel, and some of them use the Core 2 Duo processor. Several different companies make motherboards that fit these types of processors and make desirable replacements if needed.

What is the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU?

The Duo model is a dual-core processor. When you have a version like this, you'll be able to take advantage of the speed that results from parallel processing. Both cores or units can work at the same time, so you'll see gains in efficiency when compared with using a single unit. There are several models of Core 2 Duo (C2Duo) processors:

  • Conroe: These come with 4MB of L2 cache. Versions include the E6300 (1.86GHz) and the E6400 (2.13GHz).
  • Allendale: These have half the L2 cache that Conroe cores have at 2MB. These use the LGA 775 form factor, and versions include the E4400 and E4300.
  • Wolfdale: There are two versions of Wolfdale cores. You can choose to have either 6MB or 3MB of L2 cache. The C2Duo desktop units with model numbers in the 8000 range are in this group.
  • Merom: This is a mobile unit that's comparable with the Conroe model.
  • Penny: This is the mobile version of the Wolfdale.

Are there different sizes of motherboards?

Among motherboards that are compatible with these Intel dual-core processors, there are various sizes:

  • ATX: A motherboard of this size is 305x244mm. This is considered the standard size, and these models come with seven expansion slots.
  • Micro-ATX: At 244x244mm, this is more compact than the ATX. It has only four slots, but this number is sufficient for many computer users. It's compatible with ATX components.
  • Mini-ATX: This smaller size motherboard is more commonly found with mobile CPUs. It has a smaller size, usually around 284x208mm, allowing it to be fit in smaller devices. It's associated with less heat generation and less power usage.

What types of sockets do these motherboards and CPUs use?

The components that are designed for use on desktops use the LGA 775 socket. Those that are designed for mobile devices may use:

  • Socket P or M
  • FC-BGA478
  • FCBGA6
  • µFC-BGA 956
