Super Mario World SNES

Playing Cartridge Video Games

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) was one of the first home video game consoles to develop for mass marketing. Releasing in 1991, the SNES remains famous for delivering enormous advances in graphical capabilities and audio quality. The release of the Super Nintendo kickstarted a revolution in video game development, with dozens of video game cartridges being developing shortly after the console's distribution. Today, console gaming systems remain extremely popular amongst retro gamers and collectors. One of the most popular video games to release on the SNES platform was and continues to be Super Mario World.

What is a Console Entertainment System?

Like all console gaming systems, the SNES utilizes a RISC central processor unit (CPU) chip and rudimentary integrated graphics. Upon release, SNES differentiated itself from competitors by using a digital signal processor chip to enhance the number of vector calculations the CPU could perform per second. This meant that the SNES could run 3D simulations using polygon-based texture mapping. However, the most recognizable features of a SNES continue to be:

  • Console Gaming: SNES internal components secure in grey multi-level console cases. The case has several pin inputs for controllers and auxiliary audio devices, as well as a slot for game cartridges.
  • Cartridge Games: The cartridge games used with console systems could transfer data at a 60 Hz frequency and store up to 117 MB of data.
  • Controller: When using a SNES to play games, you will have to connect a wired controller. The iconic SNES controller has four colored buttons on its right side and a cross-shaped toggle on the left.

Why Choose Super Mario World for SNES Gaming?

Many regard Super Mario World as one of the more popular video game releases ever, with increasingly challenging levels, several of which you can win in multiple ways, challenging you to explore and find them all.

  • Iconic Characters: If you are a fan of Super Mario, you can take control of the original depictions of some of your favorite characters, including Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and the newly introduced dinosaur Yoshi.
  • Enthralling Gameplay: Since it was first released, the side-scrolling design of Super Mario World has been replicated in dozens of different video games. In Super Mario World, the memorable run-jump-float gameplay mechanics of the first game are refined and supplemented by quirky graphics and a truly entertaining story.
  • Challenging Main Quest: Whether you control Mario or Luigi, Super Mario World's main quest remains challenging to this day. Balancing power-up usage with upcoming boss battles is one of the most commonly cited challenges.
