Lanternas Traseiras para Ford Taurus X

What taillights are there for the Ford Taurus X?

Two types of illumination sources make up the vast majority of the taillight market: HID and LED. High-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs make use of discharged gas and tungsten electrodes to shoot a brilliant beam into the night. These bulbs last for about 2,000 hours of use. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are a futuristic technology that takes up a minuscule amount of energy. Each LED diode takes up a tiny physical footprint, stays cool even after hours of use, and is rated to last 50,000 hours.

How do you install new taillights in a Ford Taurus?

When upgrading or replacing the brake lights on a Ford Taurus X, it’s often necessary to replace the entire taillight assembly. While the exact process of replacing the assembly may vary between older and newer Taurus X models, these simple instructions should have your back end shining again in no time. Basic shop tools are required for the following steps:

  • Turn off the engine and open the tailgate.
  • Remove the scuff plate at the very edge of the cargo compartment. The scuff plate is held in either with wing nuts or plastic pins.
  • Pick a side and pull back the carpeting to reveal the taillight retaining nuts. Remove the nuts with a socket wrench.
  • Pull the assembly away from the vehicle to disengage the guide pin. Disconnect the electrical harness and discard the old assembly.
  • Position the new assembly into place and connect the electrical harness. Pop the assembly into the cavity and secure with the retaining nuts. Replace the carpeting and the scuff plate to complete installation.
How do you replace the 3rd brake light assembly?

Just as important to on-the-road safety as the taillights is the 3rd brake light on your Ford Taurus X. Also called the center high-mount stop light, this device lets drivers in tall vehicles like semi-trucks know your position even if your lower brake lights are obscured. Replacing this part is easy and should take less than half an hour. The steps are listed below:

  • Turn off the engine and open the tailgate.
  • Locate and remove the two screws holding the 3rd brake light assembly in place.
  • Pull the assembly outward and wiggle to disengage the connecting prongs from the outside of the vehicle.
  • Disconnect the electrical harness, discard the old assembly, and position the replacement into place.
  • Push the replacement assembly into the cavity until the prongs engage. From inside the vehicle, insert the two screws to complete installation.
